Thumbs down Netzero adding ads to email

A friend of mine has NETZERO which he has been paying for and recently when he sends email, it has ads at the bottom...... (I think it its only from the webmail interface)

Now i thought only FREE EMAIL PROVIDERS did this as a way to offset the cost of the free user.....

Anyone else notice this? (They come from 'thirdpartyoffers')

I've never had a paid NetZero account, but between this revelation and the recent discontinuation of their PrivatePhone free voicemail service, it sounds like NetZero is going out of its way to ensure that there's no good reason to use their services. (Not to mention some of their lame policies, such as one I mentioned elsewhere about requiring users to call a $1.95 per minute phone number in order to try to restore access to one's account -- even when it was they who screwed up my password, security question, birthdate, and zipcode.).

Most certainly...

I have had an account since 2000. Even at times when I had additional paid services that facilitated the "upgrade" to MegaMail , the ads, tag lines, and spam have continued to disgrace this account. One thing I do not know, and would be interested to find out, is if someone opens a paid account from day1 if any effort is made to curtail these annoyances. I would suspect not, considering past practice.

I can only say that I've tried their free internet, and it's so bad that it's puzzling.

I thought the point of offering something for free - like Hotmail - is to get people to feel positive about your brand.

do you know is there a way to get rid of their ADs in webmail?
I have the netzero acct for many years, using it for a mailing list, I read the messages almost each day, but do be tired about their ADs.

Hi guys,

I upgraded my netzero account to their MegaMail.
I'm happy that I can close the ADs in outgoing messages (yes there is an option there you can use to close the ADs).
I'm unhappy that when I login into the webmail, it's still full ADs around there.
But I can pop the messages since they enable pop/smtp for MegaMail.
Their pop is in fact a pop proxy, not a direct pop3 mailserver (from my technology point).
Well, it's only 9.95 USD/per year, not bad experience, since I have used an account on them for some years.

Thanks for the update...

You mean you can disable them? (So no ads appear @ the bottom of email you send?)

Interesting......
