Google ending "less secure apps" feature

From Google Account Help:

Quote:
Starting in Fall of 2024, less secure apps, third-party apps, or devices that have you sign in with only your username and password will no longer be supported for Google Workspace accounts. For exact dates, visit Google Workspace Updates. To continue to use a specific app with your Google Account, you’ll need to use a more secure type of access that doesn’t share password data.. Learn how to use Sign in with Google.

My understanding is that you can still create "app passwords" for your Gmail account as long as you have 2FA enabled.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. It was some time ago that they changed the third party password, to requiring 2FA to create one. With Claws Mail, OAUTH2 is a crap shoot. There is a discussion on going in the mailing list.

Works fine for me. I do not use the web interface for any of my accounts so better does really mean much for me. Both Gmail and Yahoo like to misidentify emails as spam. I have the respective Apps installed on my cell phone to check spam and move the non-spam email back in to the inbox. I use POP3, not IMAP for all accounts. Yahoo is the worst offender at this, probably because I have been migrating away from Gmail and get less emails per day now. Yahoo had 43 today, Gmail had one.
