Why can't I buy file space?

I'm wondering why I'm not allowed to buy more file space because of my member status in FM. Since I would be paying for it, it would seem that I should be allowed to give FM my money in exchange for some storage space, no? Can somebody explain this enigma to me? Thanks!

Only FM's people can give an explanation -- if they want to -- but I'd say it's to get you to become a full member.

Common business model.

The FM guys saw an opportunity to differentiate the annual subscriptions from the free and one time fee accounts, and they took it. There was a discussion about this a while back, before the feature was released.
