'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin passed
I can't believe the news.... His show was entertaining especially with those big cats.

I'm still surprised anyone is surprised.... while I'm sad (mostly for my 13 year old niece that gets to wake with this news), I'm not surprised.... I know most of his stuff was camera angle, but many times, he put himself out there... at times, he pushed it a little too far....

I couldn't believe the news when I heard it today. He is one of the most recognised Australians worldwide and his passion for wildlife conservation and education unparalelled. Its a great shame to lose such an awesome aussie.

Australia has lost several iconic personalities in the last few weeks with Steve Irwin the most well known internationally.
Also killed yesterday was Peter Brock, arguably Australia's premier touring car driver and the winner of nine Bathurst races. Bathurst is Australia's most popular (and historic) motor sport event Brock was killed driving in a rally near Perth. Another one doing what he loved but leaving many Aussies feeling empty and sad. We also lost, albeit of old age, Colin Thiele, prolific author and writer of an Australian classic "Storm Boy" from which a film was made; and Len Evans, wine enthusiast, grower, promoter and writer, largely responsible for the growth in the interest in wine in Australia and for Australia's increasing wine export market. Australia now is the fourth largest wine exporting country.

Tribute
The tribute the other night on animal planet was so touching and sad expecially when Bindi spoke about her Dad.

Yes, she was amazing wasn't she. An 8 year old speaking like a veteran.
However I hope this "I'm gonna fulfill my Dad's destiny" is not taken too far. She is only a little girl and needs to have her childhood to give her time to experience her own path. I assume the adults in her life will protect and nurture her appropriately. Jeff |
