Loving the new Interface
I know that there has been a tonne of rumblings in this forum about the new interface. I'm going to be a contrarian and say that the new interface is just wonderful. Fastmail is moving ahead with the times. Specific features I love:
I understand why some people are complaining but at least for me, I'm extremely happy with the final product. Suresh |

Yeah, it took me a few weeks to get used to the new interface, but now I'm happy.

I keep looking at it. Lots of features still missing, and it steals too much of a small screen because it frames emails.
But I'm watching. |

One of the things I don't like is it does not show the folder count only if you hover over it....for me that is a big big step backwards.
Plus there are lots of other things missing but I wont go on about it as I don't use it. |

we have drag and drop attachments?
Oh snap. How would I have known about this if I hadn't dropped by today? |

Still anxious that they will never update the notepad and file storage pages, thereby signalling end of support for those (very important) features.

File storage is being re-integrated, have a look at beta.fastmail.fm where you can both save to file storage (click the checkbox of the files you want to save, then a toolbar appears) and attach from storage area (just click the Attach File button).

The beta feature "Attach from File Storage" does'nt work at all for me. I tried it with a fastmail.fm "from address" and an external "from address" (external smtp).

The same here, the file is shown as attached in the compose screen, but after sending the email, there is nothing attached...
"Save to file storage" works fine. Is there an overall changelog for new features on the beta interface? |

Its on beta. You can assume that means buggy, incomplete or worse. In this case most of the backend filestorage API hasn't actually been implemented yet, so this behaviour is entirely expected.

I don't see any change on the beta site. My students use file storage to save and send me their work, since I don't want to participate in the google-opoly or force anyone to have a gmail account against their will. I care less about "attach from file storage".
And I really really like the ability to encrypt notes in notepad. I'm not sure how real-world secure that really is, but it feels safer and smarter than writing my passwords on my macbook with a pencil. |

In the past (can't find the topic) we had some discussions about what is alpha, beta, development, test, etc. What you've described here does, imo, not meet the definition of beta.

In my understanding, what FM now offers as standard interface, is still beta. However, it would be nice to have a list of new features being developed, just to see if the guys there are listening to users at all. |
