Eudora
I use Eudora mainly.
Outlook Express has more bells and whistles that Eudora, it is generally easier to use, and is more suited to multiple users on the same computer. Some of the things that I like about Eudora, that I believe Outlook Express does not have, ... * more filter capabilities (although the "message rules" in OE are easier to manage) * it is much easier to determine and manage whether a specific message is left on the server or deleted Plus, there are some viruses which target Express & Outlook Express specifically. If you want to use GIFs, background images, or sounds in your e-mail then Eudora is not the client for you. Eudora will receive these e-mails okay, but you cannot use them in outgoing mail. Also Express & Outlook Express are the only e-mail clients that I know that support the http server used by HotMail. You can download a sponsored (free with a ad window) copy of Eudora. http://www.eudora.com |

The default e-mail client is configured under the settings in your browser.
eg "Internet Options" -> "Programs" |

Easy.
One word: PocoMail.
Period. I have tried Outhouse Excess , Eudora (decent), and various others that Tucows.com said were suppose to be good. In the end, I decided that TheBat! and PocoMail are the two best. When the TheBat! v. 2.0 is released it will rule, but for now, get PocoMail or TheBat!. They make Outlook look like a piece of junk, plus they are NOT prone to the viruses that circulate so frequently thoughout Microsoft products. Just try it, you won't be dissapointed. Trip |

Trip's advice is good if you need POP only, not IMAP. If you need POP only, JBMail is another good program to try.
If you want IMAP, try Mulberry (not free), Mozilla/Netscape 6.2, Outlook Express 6.0 (with security set to 'restricted sites), and Pine (text only). |

Thanks Trip, i have not heard of Pocomail but i will try it since u recommend. It's not free rite, like theBat?
i think i prefer a free one as i don't need one with all the works. Is Incredimail an email client? Or does it solely allows u to personalise your email messages. It looks kinda cute, quite interesting to send such an email to a girlfriend. |

This post appears to have missed the proper forum.

Yes, we are off-topic now, but so be it. Any followups, please go to FastMail.FM's forum.
I think Basilmaven is referring to the planned syncing of addresses, not just uploading. The address sync feature already has a working Outlook Express backend in prototype form. The sync engine is just like IMAP, copying across the latest additions, deletions, and modifications. Anything modified on both ends since the last sync is either copied from the client, or from the server, or duplicated on both ends, based on a user preference. The system is designed to allow other backends to be quickly and easily created. For instance I created one for text files in around one hour. The main slowness is getting a documented API or file format for the address book in question (for OE, I had to create a C++ DLL based on MS's extremely dodgey API documentation). |

Outlook Express should be secure if you set Tools->Options->Security to 'Restricted sites'.
Have you tried Mozilla? It's mail client is very nice, IMHO. |
