Well, I tried to keep my ones to the minimum...

1 Oddpost (ramping down)
1 Fastmail (member)
1 Mail.ru (for Russian communications)
1 GMail (just made primary)

That's all. Had Oddpost one as a primary for a while (well, almost from their beginning), then decided to move to GMail. I kinda liked Fastmail before, actually very much so, but couple issues forced me to reconsider.

I think that a person needs only one e-mail address (why one would need more???); if anybody has more than one it means that either he got special needs or just having fun

SusanUKF, you crack me up!

I'm a collector too; I've got:

1 Paid FastMail
1 Free FastMail
My domain e-mail at FastMail
1 PromptPost I just got today - it looks great and very promising!
1 Yahoo
2 Hotmail
1 MyWay
1 ISP
3 Neandertech
1 Digikitten
4 GMail (and plenty of invites for anyone who still wants one)
1 Rediffmail
1 Bluebottle

19! Wow!

Edit: Oops, I forgot 2

1 Justice Mail
1 Operamail

I've signed up and later dumped plenty of others, but I like knowing what is available and trying most of them. FastMail is my primary and permanent, and I use Pop Links there to check Hotmail, Neandertech, Digikitten and Bluebottle. I use PopPeeper to check MyWay, GMail and Rediffmail.

in order of use:

fastmail (paid member)
yahoo.com (free)
gmail
hotmail (free)
yahoo.co.jp (comes with my isp)

Several others that I check so rarely, I may have lost the accounts. Gmail has potential to move up the list if they start using IMAP. I like labels and conversation threading.

Cool

Okay, I'm STILL in search of the perfect web-email account that has lots of storage and features, an easy-to-use-and-say domain, and value.

To date, I have the following, in order of use:

Fastmail (best all-around)
USA.net (hard to surrender this VERY easy domain name for my computer-challenged friends)
Yahoo (classic)
Hotmail (another classic)

I cringe at all the positive comments regarding Gmail, because I will probably find myself having ANOTHER account in the future!

Yikes or Ouch is the right response. Exactly how I feel about it. It is an obsession indeed. Beware.

Currently I have 70, most of which are in use and about half regularly.

Reasons

An address can get spammed out. I limit the use of an address in case I have to ditch it. By keeping things separate, I have had addresses spam-free for years. Also less likely I will miss important mail or get people mixed up. By many addresses I can make comparisons of the quality of service. I like Yahoo the best for both business and personal and have 24 addresses with them, most in current use.

I use separate addresses for the following:

One used for ordering merchandise or contact when I sign up for something.. Accordingly it gets a lot of spam.

Another one for important orders where I would not want a reply lost in all the spam. Only some spam at this address.

One for ebay and ofoto. Only gets ebay and ofoto spam (so far).

One for airline tickets. Handy to keep this separate.

I need a address which can send/receive reliably messages in a certain non-Latin alphabet for my work. Plus two more for cc since any one address may lose a message or run slow. This is how I make money so I can't take a chance on missing something or getting it late.

I also do email for personal use in another non-Latin alphabet. Two more addresses in case I need them since sometimes a server is down. Plus one more for one certain correspondent.

Three for business. One is for market reports, another for discussions, another for individuals.

Mail list reception. Since I need plenty of memory plus I handle them differently, this means at least 3 more addresses.

I belong to an organization where I want all that mail to a separate address. Need two for them. Zero spam there.

I have various personal correspondences for which I use Yahoo. Yahoo is my favorite. Since photos can easily fill the memory, until recently it has been necessary to keep people separate. Also less confusing this way. Got a bunch of these addresses. Most are spam free.

Sometimes I need an address for something to satisfy as ign-up process but I don't want to bother with hearing from them. So I have 2 – 3 "wastebasket" addresses.

Some addresses fall into disuse but I keep them as long as they work okay and remain spamless. At any time I can put one into use if I suddenly need one.

My system works and having gotten used to it it takes very little effort. I maintain a masterlist to keep them straight.

Impressive!

70 email addresses -- that's impressive!

I do see the point in having several different addresses. Perhaps my zeal to streamline everything into one single email address has been unwise.

Thanks!

24 free yahoo accounts? Tell us more

I've had one in my native lang but let it go into not active due to inactivity. I have an old yahoo.com that has no pop. It get too much spam even with spam filter to the highest setting.

I've had another yahoo.com that I lost due to using yahoopops.

I have one local country yahoo uk to use if I lose the old yahoo again. A kind of reserv in case

How do you do to not lose all 24 yahoo accounts. don't they care?

Are they all in different countries or do you have several on yahoo.com too. Do you pay for any of them?

Do you give your correct Dat of Birth and correct zip to all accounts.

I have 13 email accounts, not as many as most of you. Most of them are POP3 accessible.

To keep track, I use PopPeeper, which can automatically check unlimited number of POP3 accounts, and the more popular wemail accounts like Yahoo, Hotmal and Gmail. So I avoid signing up for webmail accounts that do not have POP3 access. I did not get a Gmail account until PopPeeper developed the capability to access it.

but get Gmail now while they are in Beta

what if Gmail give us who participated in Beta a free pop and no free pop to those who join after the Beta goes to first official?

It doen't cost you anything other then the sign on time.

5 minutes maybe To have it in case Gmail get pop
