Thanks. Another difference I spotted is in the FM web message display re "Unsubscribe" - added to the OP.
It is safe to post the full header here with personal email address redacted? |

I would assume if you had a thread marked for email notices, you would get one EVERY TME someone replied to that thread..... (Until logging in and reading it)

And given CyberSmurf's "I don't see any deleted or unapproved posts in the thread. Multiple posts wouldn't seem to be the reason." there must have been only one n5bb reply at the time. Perhaps n5bb (Bill) can recall doing something unusual 3secs after he posted the reply? |

?It?s replacing certain characters with a question mark? I entered that with surrounding quotes and a contraction for it is. If I open such a corrupted message I can usually fix it. I probably did that on the post in question. I also edited and partially corrected this post. Editing my reply again: I see that the quotes in your post were also corrupted with ? characters when I quoted your post. I have seen similar spurious ? characters in the posts of others, so I don?t think it?s due to anything unusual in my browser. The odd thing is that it?s erratic and doesn’t always get corrupted. I don’t know what happens to the new post notifications when I edit a previous post. I wouldn’t think it would send additional notifications every time I edit my previous post. Again, I think this is corruption when I'm making the post, not reading it. I would appreciate others including some apostrophe and quote characters and see if they come out as question mark characters. I think that some other characters (such as parenthesis) or {braces} or [brackets] are also affected. EDIT: I don't see any corruption to this post, made on my Windows PC. Maybe it's only when I use my iPad. Bill |

My guess this is because I edited my original EMD post after a couple of minutes. I didn?t think it would send out such updates, but since it doesn?t notify the poster I had no way to know it was sending out duplicate announcements.

It sounds a likely explanation; if someone edits a post it could be major change that's equivalent to a new post.
