I dont happen to agree with most of these as being overlooked GOOD films,i only like #'s 27,28,32 and 85.. The rest I havent seen or think are garbage.......Now if this was an 80s MOVIE LIST,the list would be MUCH BIGGER!!! (I love the 80s for many reasons) |

Without having looked at the link... I remember these movies of the 90s which did not get the credit they deserved (IMO):
Kissed (Canadian film) The winter guest I don't know if Rosetta, The Magdalene Sisters, and Noi Albinoi got credit they deserved outside of their own countries. Also three great movies. The first 2 left a very deep impression, which is the type of movies I like. |

That could mean different things: either they are indeed overlooked but not worth mentioning/seeing according to the journalist, or they are famous enough at least in the country of production and thus not in the "overlooked" category. Or the journalist may have not heard of them, which would however be odd if he researched overlooked films as a subject of writing.
I never saw films such as "Noi Albinoi", "The Winter Guest" or "Kissed" again after seeing them in cinema in the 90s. I wish I could see them again somehow as they did leave a big impression on me, however I never found them in a library or DVD store either. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kissed
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116783/ I'd so much love to see this movie again, I loved it when it first came into cinema. I've never found the movie again. If it'd be somewhere online or, ideally, for sale on DVD (this can be second-hand) I'd love to know about it. The description on Wikipedia doesn't describe the movie as well as it should though, as Wikipedia makes it sound like some weird erotic movie. To me, it was about a fascination with the subject of death, and the question if there is a life after death or not. Erotics only played a minor role in the movie in my own experience of having seen the movie. I love how, despite the subject matter of death, the film is showing mostly white images rather than darkness. It is like the movie was trying to say that death is nothing to be afraid of, so no darkness was allowed in the movie. While the plot summary (read at own risk if you don't want to know how the film ends) indeed describes some important scenes, I find the description missing emotion. The combination of death as a subject and the colour white being omnipresent, that alone makes that movie stand out in my opinion. |

and another great movie...
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351461...oi%2520albinoi The footage of North Iceland in winter gives some fantastic idyllic scenery, but the story is great as well. It is about escapism and the desire to leave an isolated society and go discovering the wide world, or sticking to the comfort of the familiar village. Escapism is the central theme in this movie. Another movie I never managed to find again after I saw it in cinema. |
