Favorite FREE mail?

this topic is stricly FREE email...although I do have some fee-mail accounts that are great, I can't suggest them to all my friends who aren't interested in/can't afford paying for email...so what's your favorite FREE email program, and why?

As for me, I like Mail2World, MyRealBox, (even though I'm scared that one day I'll wake up and it will be gone, with a notice that says, "Testing over, goodbye!) and LaPoste.net!

Inbox.lv isn't too bad, either.

Am getting fond of MyWay email. Just like excite.com, except with more space.

I like Care2 because of the e-cards that go with the service, and the general 'eco-friendly' theme.

I was NOT happy with gaweb.com because all the mail sent to me kept getting returned to sender...and I emailed them about it several times, and never got a response.

I stopped using MailSpace after they deleted all my mail from all my folders, and I wasn't able to receive any new mail for about 2 weeks...and they never explained why or even responded to my emails!

I also like Atmail.nl a lot, but guess what they did?
When I tried to log in yesterday, I found out my account did not exist anymore.
I had to sign up again just to find out that all my messages and address book has disappeared. The positive thing is that they fixed the forwarding bug and now it works flawlessly.
But I still like the atmail system and the service speed. The really bad things about them: The support is almost non-existent and they keep sending new users a message containing pop settings for email clients, although they do not offer it.

Sometimes I find atmail.nl SO SLOW, it's why I rarely use accounts with atmail anymore. I know I'd be very annoyed to find my address book and messages gone...

Thumbs up Best Free Service(s)...

It pains me to say it because frankly I don't think MochaMail will ever take new members again, but they are the best imho. As a demonstration service they seem to be much for reliable and complete than MRB has ever been.

FastMail would be my other favorite free service.

Other than that I can't tolerate those other webmail-only services with cruddy banner interfaces, like yahoo or hotmail or excite or mail.com...who make you pay an arm and a leg for features standard in other free acounts.

Oh yeah, and for forwarding alone, GMX.net remains the best free or paid service ever made, hands down.

Thumbs up Virus free Email

I think www.vfemail.net is not bad at all: IMAP + POP, SSL, virus scan, spam protection, 10 Mb storage, personalities, filters, very fast. All for free.

And I'd really love to try it, I've heard so many things about it...I'm running out of good, reliable free services to steer people towards...it seems this year people have been asking me nonstop for suggestions!

manifold options for forwarding / notification / etcn

www.seznam.cz

(They are Chech, but now they have ENGLISH version, too.

The largest set of forwarding options - with / without copy, notification etc. )

The ones I like best:

Fastmail - I have a paid account with them, but their free account is great too!
Hotpop
Inbox.lv
Junglemate - but you can't sign up for a free account anymore...hafta get a paid account. If you have a free account...keep it open coz it's a pretty nice free account.
Care2 - what kchess said
Zapzone

Medium:
Mail2World - like the interface...but can be slow
Gawab - Like their interface and stuff...however, I read there were some probs with it but it could be newbie problems.

Puke:
atmail.nl coz I couldn't get a response from them on something too...and they advertised pop but we can't have it.
smail.info - gave up on this coz I wasn't able to login for awhile. It was ok but one time it lost email.

I hated Gawab. I had all possible problems with them. My account could not be found sometimes, it was slow and pop servers were down. The interface was slow, too. Besides, the stylesheet themes were dull...

I was sorry to see Smail.info go. I liked Squirrelmail and their IMAP server as well.

atmail.nl, as I said, has no support at all, but I like atmail webclient and it works fine with a fast connection here in Germany.

I opened an account at Moomia and I am very satisfied with it! Did you know they automatically reject emails from Hotmail, Excite and MyWay and put them in the trash folder? These services are known as big spammers, that's why, I guess.

Ohers great free services:
1. Mail2World
2. La Poste
3. Deutsche Post
4. web.de
5. GMX
6. Agora Mesmo (Brazil) ---> uses Visual Office as webclient

-I'd like to check them out. But you know....I don't like it when services block other services. It makes it a pain in the butt sometimes.

Well, phooey, my dad still uses Hotmail. And I know several people that have an excite address. I'd hate to have my friends blocked from my mail just because they're using a sub-par service...

If other people are having luck with it, great, because I really liked the different interfaces, but I signed up with three different accounts at three different computers in the hopes of getting ONE account that would receive mail...and never heard back from support...really annoyed me, since I liked their service up to that point...
