I don't care if Moomia is sellective with Hotmail & Co, because I use it as a (very) secondary account to exchange mails with people who do not use any of the blocked services. Andrea |

Great Free services that I like the most:
1- Mail2World - the best overall with so many features and a nice interface. I have never received a single spam with them. 2- Yahoo - I love the new, clean interface and the new address book especially the sync feature with Outlook. 3- uReach - a reliable and useful UM provider with a good interface. |

Mail Client Accessible:
www.fastmail.fm - IMAP Very fast and reliable and if you have a problem the staff listen and usually fix it right away. www.yahoo.co.uk - POP (.co.uk only not .com) The new web interface is much nicer than the old one. www.mochamail.com & www.myrealbox.com - Unfortunately not accepting new users. Webmail Only: www.anytimenow.com - calendar, tasks, files, notes, bookmarks,expenses.groups. I am however concerned about the longevity of this free service as at one time they were going to move to paid only but then seemed to have changed their mind. www.mail2world.com - calendar, translator, favorites. This service has a lot of advocates so it must be reliable. www.outgun.com - calendar, file cabinet, file sharing, greetings. photo album, bookmarks. The new interface is a lot better than the old one. I haven't tested it for reliability though. www.junglemate.com - Unfortunately not accepting new users. <edit>They are now.</edit> Last edited by Adrian Bell : 8 Jan 2003 at 07:17 AM. |

If there wasn't a fastmail I might use mail2world. They're fast in terms of delivery and receipt of mail. It's only the interface that's a little sluggish. They have to have a domain to suit just about anyone. They also have a notification thingy that you can download, and that's always a plus for web mail. The only thing that really bothers me about it is not having an option to view mail as plain text by default.
MyWay also looks promising, but there's less space at 6MB and it's way too soon to be sure. They do say that they're adding some kind of notification and other enhancements soon. If you like your e-mail together with a start page that's definitely one to keep an eye on. |

vfemail
I am having a bit of a problem with vfemail. I can receive mail but cannot open the compose window or get the signature function to work, I type in the desired signature but it won't take. Also I cannot get address book or folder to perform as it should. I have reported the problems to vfe support but they haven't had time to respond yet. Thought someone here might have a suggestion. Thanks.

I know that Yahoo! gets a bad rap on this forum at times -- but, personally, I like them. I have never had a problem with spam or downtime. 4mb of space isn't too bad (especially when compared to Hotmail's 2mb). I like their address book, calendar, reminders, notepad, etc. too. And they are stable -- I can't see them going out of business anytime soon.

THanks k7 for your prompt response. It got me thinking an I also received a response from support. Between the two of you I was able to solve problem. Got to checking my IE6 Browser and disabled POPUP STOPPER. That did the job. Thanks again.

Another good free service is swissinfo.org. It's available in many languages and support IMAP.

My free email accounts
I have gradually transposed my main email to paid accounts but I still do have a few free accounts that I occasionally use.
Fastmail - As I am wary about giving away my true ID to people I hardly know online I have several 'aliases'. I use my Fastmail account to communicate with other Sim sites webmasters (and mistresses). I also use it if I am using a computer that has a slower internet connection than my computer at home (eg the computers at school *are* broadband, but it's slow because too many peeps use it ). But My favourite unique feature of Fastmail is the handy BOUNCE button, which is especially helpful for dealing with spam. Excite.com - Although Excite are very slow and only offers 3mb of storage, I really like the *themes* you can use when sending emails with them. They have original emoticons and many backgrounds for increased enjoyment by both the sender and the recipient. I have some others too but I don't really use them. |

?swissinfo? strange...
Curious to read they are alive. I registered with them, they were very very very slowwww, recently I tried to open my e-account and it seemed the PC-panes are frozen. So I decided the service is out of function. And I am not short of patience. (!)
Now, I see other PC users have more luck with them. Last edited by sakura : 23 May 2003 at 07:55 PM. |

Sorry you are having problems Sakura. I have been using SWISSINFO all week end with no problems, found them very fast. I could send messages to my other accounts and they would arrive by the time I logged into my other account, Maybe one minute. Yes they are a Switzerland based provider as best I can determine. Perhaps you would be willing to give them another try. Like send a lengthy message to your Swissinfo account and mail a message from it.

I think the best are justice.com and wildemail.com
Both seem to be the same, but wildemail.com offers several different endings. Both are very fast. They both offer a personality option so you can make it appear to be sent from another email address. Other sites offer this, but charge money for it. I however, use mail.com I have been using it for over two years and only get about five to seven pieces of junk mail a week. This is most likely my fault, as I post to many bulletin boards with my address visible. I used to have about a dozen addresses, but I have now narrowed it down to this one address and it has always worked great for me. pressureguy |
