Lodi - California (also in New Jersey)
Lodi is in the Central Valley just 90 miles from San Francisco and 120 miles from the Sierra Nevada mountains. Home to a few wineries and other farming. Also known as the city mentioned in a song about being "stuck in Lodi again." |

Er David, I don't know where you got that F from; the current letter (from the previous post, Io) was O.
So, continuing the chain from there and discounting the last entry: Orpington (supposedly "Kent", but it's actually been in the County of Greater London since 1922) (There are sone strange anomalies with English counties, many of which I suspect were caused by the county reforms of 1922 and of 1968; for instance, Middlesex County was abolished in 1968 (along with Rutland), but many towns within Greater London still claim to be in Middlesex. Also, Nottingham (the county town of Nottinghamshire, natch) has grown so large that one of its suburbs is in Derbyshire; speaking of which, the county towns of Derbyshire and of Lancashire are no longer Derby and Lancaster respectively, but Matlock and Preston. I suppose renaming the counties Matlockshire and Prestonshire wouldn't have worked; I reckon that the new county town of Lancashire should have been Blackpool, but that's just me. The oddest anomaly I find is that Kingston, the county town of Surrey, isn't actually in Surrey; it's in Greater London.) |

Eureka - California
A city on the northern California coast, once rooted in logging and commercial fishing, it has diversified its economic base to become the regional hub for transportation, commerce, government, and industry. |

Back to the game: Anza Borrego: a desert (and a "desert state park") in southern California. I visited this place about 3 weeks ago and it was really beautiful, full of wild flowers! Now my children know that a desert is a place full of wild flowers where it rains all the time... |

Ohio
Mid-western, Great Lakes state sometimes, with Virginia, called "Mother of Presidents". If I remember correctly, 7 presidents have come from Ohio and 8 from Virginia. |

Oahu - Hawaii Though not the largest island in the chain, Oahu definitely fits its nickname as the gathering place. Home to the state capital of Honolulu and the famous Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head volcano. Unless they take a direct flight to the other islands, Oahu is usually the first stop for visitors to the islands. |
