An idea came to me a couple or more years ago. Not know really if the idea is a good one but it was this:
Setup a Vacation Response arrangement for an email address you're getting too much spam to. Check it but do not respond to any of the spam messages; only respond to messages you can be sure are real messages from people you know or expect. The Vacation Response message might say something like, "... this account will be shutdown in or on some particular time or date...." Maybe not a very smart idea; but just a thought. |

Spam often has a From address which is not associated with the actual sender. So when you respond to a random spam message you may be sending what amounts as spam to an unsuspecting person. This is called a Joe Job. See:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_job You should only respond to a message when you believe it to be legitimate. If it?s an actual spammer address, you are just telling them they reached someone, so they can continue spamming you. If a legitimate sender does not stop sending you messages after requests, just block that address. This is possible in most email systems. Bill |
