If you like this band, maybe check songs such as "Salvation" (very heavy rock) , "Ode to my family" and "Linger" (both a lot more low-key) On-topic: the last song I listened to, a few minutes ago, was "Show me love" by t.A.T.u. (often portrayed as just a gimmick, but I honestly liked their music) Before that I listened to "Forgiven" by Space Brothers. |

Now listening to "Blasphemous Rumours" by German act Angelzoom. A cover of Depeche Mode obviously, but dare I say the cover IMO is better than the original. While realising a lot of Depeche Mode fans would consider this statement blasphemous, the cover just has a lot nicer dreamier harmony and a more emotional vocal. The original has a quite dramatic lyric sung without any emotion, as if the lyric is fun to listen and dance to. The cover injects emotion into the song that the original lacks.
Maybe this could be an idea for another topic: name a cover song that improves the original |

"Stimmen im Wind" by Juliane Werding.
The lyrics are quite poetic, although part of the poetry is lost in translation when translating from German to English (a common problem with non-English songs) Beautiful dreamy yet melancholic song. "Sie ist nicht verlassen, nur allein... Menschen die sich lieben sterben nie" |

Now listening to Joan Baez : "Here's to you"
Written as a protest against the death sentences of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. There was a film "Sacco e Vanzetti" about it, for which the song was written. The last 2 lines of the (short) lyrics were a quote by one of the men. Ennio Morricone wrote the music to this song. The song seems to have been re-used on the soundtrack of another film later on, "Life Aquatic". |

On a slightly different tack, I've been enjoying some analysis videos of famous rock bands over the years, and discovered a YouTube channel by "Wings of Pegasus".
This is run by a guy named Fil, and he has a real in-depth knowledge of the bands he (and I!) like, and he puts it over so well. For example, here's an example of an analysis of AC/DC: https://youtu.be/zeX3srd3ow4 Enjoy! |

again "Here's to you" by Joan Baez.
Just before I was repeatedly playing "Ti sento" by Matia Bazar. Lovely, summer-like euphoric Italian dance music. |

Tonight re-listened the entire "Non-stop erotic cabaret" and "Non-stop ecstatic dancing" albums by Soft Cell. Amongst the best concept albums I've heard in my life, and a highlight of the electronic music that rose to prominence in the eighties.

Gregory Lemarchal - "SOS d'un terrien en détresse"
(a song which may be known even by those who cannot understand French, as Peter Kingsberry made an English translation of this song named "Only the very best". The French version was the Original one though. Lemarchal's version is itself a cover, the Original one being by Daniel Balavoine. Sadly enough both Daniel and Gregory are no longer amongst us ) |
