Sure, no problem

eeism.com: eartheist (EMD user "eeism" is a user of eeism.com, not a staff member) (N.B. I couldn't connect to this site from the UK at 20:49 GMT on 20 October 2004; I don't yet know if this is temporary or permanent.)
Temporary, I guess. I just connected to it.

EmailBoutique.com: William Holmes (couldn't connect)
Down for me too.

Geekmail.com: gersham (couldn't connect)
You can clear this one from the list: http://www.emaildiscussions.com/...208#post188208

Quote:

impactforum.com: hypermedia (couldn't connect)

Looks like the domains are no longer valid. I think this one is belly-up.

Quote:
phatcom.net: marsel (couldn't connect)
Connection problem indeed. Domain is still valid, but "Network Problem, host not found".

Quote:

Retroblue.com: dannywright99, baz191 (it's dead, Jim — DO NOT visit this site, you'll instantly be spammed by about half-a-dozen popups, most of them difficult to get rid of)
Domain expired, popups as Robert says (I only got 4 though, and they were simple to get rid of. Gotta love this browser )

That is odd. No popups here.. they even say 'No Banners, No Popups' on their homepage.

Quote:
SyntheticBliss.com/reflexnet.us: reflex (DNS error on second URL; didn't try first)
Both URLS confirmed to be down.

Quote:
tmicha.net: starseeker (service works but has been taken over; so may not have a rep here anymore)
Firing off an email to Starseeker enquiring about the Rep status.

--K

Update: I received a mail back from WhiteMail Support (which I also mailed regarding Starseeker). Here it is:

"Dear Kander,

Thank you for your email.

Starseeker is no longer an official representative for Tmicha.
You can safely unset his Representative field.

Best regards,
Mark Anderson."

Round-up of services which are dead or no longer have reps here

OK, here goes:

CWCTV.NET (WebTV provider): user claimed to be a rep of this company, but provided no evidence for this when I asked; and as Edwin hasn't seen any such evidence either (or the "Representative of" field would have been set), I doubt the veracity of the claim

Eboxmail.net: andyw99

EmailAccount.com: sold by Edwin, no longer has a rep here to my knowledge

Geekmail.com: gersham

Retroblue.com: dannywright99, baz191 (it's dead, Jim — DO NOT visit this site, you'll instantly be spammed by about half-a-dozen popups, most of them difficult to get rid of)

tmicha.net: no longer has an official rep on EMD (thanks, kander)

Universal Post Office (UPO): long-dead

yondermail.com: now just a search portal, like others in this post

Probably the best (almost certainly the easiest) way is a pointer thread whose sole purpose is to direct people to the current round-ups; I've just created a thread for this purpose, and would like to request that this be made sticky...

Very valueable stuff indeed.

I guess you edit in all the relevant feedback on those that has expired and changed to portals and such.

I mean I trust you to do this.

Whether you may decide to annotate the above post containing your updated list, or however might be determined best to keep track of updates, since I don't see it mentioned anywhere above, just "for the record", although the domain name itself may still be actively in use as a website, unfortunately wizworks.net (which was one of the most reliable free email services I've ever used while it lasted) discontinued its email service awhile back, citing the all-too-common problem of abuse by spammers.

I just tried WizWorks, and although there is no link to create a new account, the webmail login (SquirrelMail) seems to still be available...

(I haven't got an account so can't check this.)

(edit: WizWorks is still up and running but is no longer public)

Interesting. Perhaps I misunderstood, since I can't recall whether or not I ever actually tried the webmail again after receiving an email from the admin, IIRC, announcing the closing of the service for the reason stated above, and I noticed that POP3 access to my own wizworks.net account ceased functioning soon afterward. But I'll try the webmail now and see whether I can get in that way or not.

Okay, while reviewing my own post here, I just caught your edit. I guess that's the "complete" explanation.

This is a list of active sites or only those open to public?

If a site is no longer open to the public, then for all intents and purposes it's no longer active.
