Nope, as your quoted information suggests, as far as I've ever known Tuffmail only has free 30-day trial accounts, no free permanent accounts.

xmailer, I am testing an easy way to keep my account.

Using the latest Opera. I downloaded it and entered the fastmail account in their email client and they have lists on how to set it up so I did not need to go to fast mail and look up how to.

"It just worked" from scratch. That's what I like in a program. It already knew how to do such things.

so now I can check fastmail through imap by just starting Opera up now and then. once each week or so. No big deal.

Thanks for making me tend to it.

Whatever works best for you, I guess. I just personally prefer using a method which isn't dependent on my own system at all, making everything as "self-sustaining" online as possible, so as to minimize my chances of losing accounts even if, say, for some reason I was unable to get online at all for six months or something (or if I was to lose access by my own computer for awhile anyway). Of course, in that case, losing a few accounts might not be important if I'm unable to access them anyway, but theoretically speaking anyway.

While that can be helpful if they have the right information, it isn't always helpful when a system, such as Gmail, guesses the server name, for example, which led to me having to post for help at the Bluehome forums once when my settings to poll my account there by POP3 failed to work, forgetting that I hadn't entered the correct POP3 server name myself but that Gmail had merely "guessed" the correct server name for me, guessing incorrectly in this case, as I've found that it often does. The moral of the story, IMO, is that computers aren't very good guessers and therefore shouldn't be guessing when they don't "know".

GMX seems to be a service that people either love or hate?

Now one have to remember that GMX can stand for old GMX.net or the new "independent of the old GMX.net" GMX.com which is the only one available here in Sweden.

Some are enthusiastic and some put it down. I trust the old GMX.net is as good as they say but we don't have that one unless one can write to them from Germany? or have someone in Germany answer a mobile phone call maybe?
I don't like to do such fakes so...

I have used GMX.com and I did like it and still have abandon it feel feel unsure of if that was a good thing. Maybe I should activate GMX.com account again?

Maybe I am too harsh on them. They are maybe ok?

tls-mail.com
I prefer gmx.net much more than gmx.com, the latter is too slow for me.

I don't need 5 email accounts. At one point or another I have used all of the mainstream mail services only to find that they each suck in their own individual way. I find that Lavabit Premium suits my needs without being a pain in my *** or costing me an arm and a leg.

Most of what has been seen has been predictable. However, I am surprised at the almost non-mention of everyone.net, as many here that claim them as primary provider (including me). That being said, my top 5 are as follows:

Everyone.net
Hosted Mail (a Gmail derivative via DreamHost)
Yahoo (because of the mandatory tie-in with my ISP)
Bluebottle
MSN Hotmail (due to the restrictive nature of non-hotmail address delivery to some of its users)

Other accounts that I own that see a lot of usage are euMX and GMX.

Curiosity question.

When we mention yahoo very few seems to specify if it is

yahoo.com
yahoo.de
yahoo.fr
yahoo.in
yahoo.ca
yahoo.cn
yahoo.se
yahoo.fi

and so on

and does yahoo include ymail.com and y7mail.com
or are they seen as particular varieties that one want to specify?

I ask cause I have accounts on the following now,

yahoo.com
yahoo.se
ymail.com
y7mail.com

and has had both on yahoo.co.uk yahoo.ca yahoo.au if I remember correctly. I managed to drop these three but still have four different.

I should drop all of them except ymail.com cause they have pop and smtp for free where I live.

For $120/year for a single user, it better be the best around!

It's cheaper than that if you pay yearly, about 10-15% cheaper. I pay $136 for two users and two premium antispam licenses a year.

You get what you pay for and they are excellent

I pay $25/year for Fastmail. What would the extra $75+ get me?

(Sorry for the topic diversion, OP..)

I'm not a customer of LuxSci, but here are some quotes I found on their website :

Quote:
[...] our services will be available to you at least 99.99% of the time. This means that we guarantee no more than 5 minutes of unscheduled downtime each month! And, if we violate this agreement, we PAY YOU for your lost time.
Quote:
We provide live support 365 days per year.
Emergency support is available 24 hours a day to address all service availability issues immediately.
However, I think that 120$ a year (with basic Spam protection and no POP, see their website) is way too much expensive.
